WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Castor oil penetrates deeply in to the tissues so we want everything it comes in to contact with to be free of dyes, chemicals and plastics. Using only organic, un-dyed and unbleached fabrics prevents any toxins from being leached in to your treatment. For this reason, it’s also important to use organic, cold-pressed, hexane-free castor oil stored in an amber glass bottle.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to keep the packs free-from plastics and vinyls, there is no waterproofing layer added to these wraps. The extra inserts - a 3-ply cotton flannel pad and a towel - are included to provide a multi-layered organic cotton construction to absorb excess oil, reducing mess and making the experience more comfortable and practical for daily or overnight use. We find with these wraps it can work best to apply the castor oil to your skin and apply the wrap over this.

 

WHY USE A WRAP?

The wrap helps to improve the efficacy of the castor oil treatment by maximising contact between your skin and the oil, and also means it is possible to do a castor oil treatment whilst moving around, working from home, or at night whilst you sleep.

The wrap is designed and shaped to fit snugly around your body, whether you wish to treat your abdomen, liver area, or over your lower back, with soft double straps making it flexible and easy to adjust to hold the pack securely in place, without being too tight or restrictive.

The wrap also helps to keep your castor oil treatments simple and easy, ensuring it's mess and fuss-free, and reducing the risk of castor oil staining clothing or furniture fabrics it may otherwise come in to contact with.

The materials used are not only safe and free from toxins, but also super soft to ensure they are comfortable to be worn against the skin for long periods of time.

 

WHAT ARE CASTOR OIL TREATMENTS HELPFUL FOR?

Castor oil is derived from the seeds of the Castor plant (Ricinus communis), also known as Palma Christi, and is traditionally used to stimulate the Lymphatic & Circulatory Systems, thereby helping to support the body's own natural healing pathways.

The added warmth that is also traditionally applied to castor oil packs is believed to help support the flow of fresh oxygenated, nutrient rich blood, supporting optimal function and healing, and helping to reduce congestion.

CARE DETAILS

We recommend soaking your wrap and inserts in a solution of baking soda and hot water, for at least 20 minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly with non-toxic soap and allowing it to air dry.

The Balm can be especially helpful when there isn't time to do a full castor oil pack with the liquid, or at any time you prefer a simple-to-apply alternative to the liquid oil. The Balm, made with 87% organic cold-pressed castor oil, 12% natural Beeswax and 1% natural Vitamin E, provides equally high standard, toxin-free ingredients in a semi-solid alternative form to the liquid oil. This can be rubbed directly on to the body part you wish to treat and the wrap applied over the top. The warmth of your hands as you massage it in, helps absorb the castor oil (or a heat pack can also be applied).

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

Please note, it is advisable to carry out a patch test, as although rare, it is possible to have an allergic reaction to castor oil.

Castor oil can stain fabrics and clothing, therefore it is always advisable to use caution or wear old clothes when using packs, or to place an old towel over furniture or your bed.

Avoid using castor oil packs if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or after ovulation if you are trying to conceive.

Don’t use on open wounds or irritated skin such as rashes or cuts

Take care when using packs with additional heat sources over scar tissue, as there can sometimes be numbness in these areas.

Castor oil can increase blood flow so use caution if using during your period, especially if you tend to have heavier period bleeds.

 

INGREDIENTS

Castor Oil Abdominal Wrap : Unbleached organic cotton fabric top layer with GOTS certified organic cotton flannel under-layer. A 3-ply GOTS certified organic cotton flannel insert and a GOTS certified organic cotton towelling cloth.

Castor Oil liquid : 250ml : Ricinus communis (cold-pressed, hexane-free castor) seed oil* * organic Amber glass bottle.

Castor oil balm : 120ml : Ricinus communis (cold-pressed, hexane-free castor) seed oil*, Cera alba (beeswax), Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil (natural Vitamin E from wheatgerm oil)* * organic Amber glass jar

Scented balms include Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil with naturally occurring Linalool or Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Oil with naturally Alpha-Pinene, Limonene, 3-Carene, p-Cymene.
